Previously on Planet Dyne (S2023E38)
It's been a remarkable week for Planet Dyne as dynes joyfully celebrated the 40th anniversary of GNU, a project that positively transformed the lives of countless dynes.
🪅 40 years of GNU
40 years ago, Richard Stallman announced a Free Unix, that was to be named "GNU" which stands for "GNU Not Unix". The golden rule required that, if a dyne likes a program, the dyne must share it with other dynes who like it. No dyne can in good conscience sign a nondisclosure agreement or a software license agreement and thus be restricted from letting everyone benefit from the goodness.
